Police clearance (also referred to as Police Check, Police Certificate, CPIC or Criminal Background Check)

Commissionaires provides police clearances for the purposes of employment, VISA applications and foreign travel/work permits. We provide police clearances, depending on your requirements, using either your name and birth date only, or using your
fingerprints. Police clearances, also referred to as criminal background checks, police checks, police certificates or CPIC checks, and are processed through the National Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) database, providing results as fast as 48 hours. Applications must be completed in person at our offices which are located across Canada. All applicants are welcome with no restrictions on your place of residence. Knowledgeable, friendly Commissionaires’ staff can assist you with the process and the necessary paper work. All results are strictly confidential and are released directly back to the applicant unless otherwise requested by signing a third party consent waiver. To obtain your police clearance results, you must produce your receipt of payment.

How to Get Your Police Clearance

Identification Required
If you have a letter or file number from the requesting source, please bring it with you.
You must also bring two pieces of valid government issued identification and one must be a photo ID. The following are the types of acceptable identification:
- Passport
- Citizenship Card or Document
- Immigration Document (i.e., Landing Papers)
- Birth Certificate
- Drivers Licence
- Permanent Resident card or Record of Landing
- Government ID
- Health Card with Photo - note not all provinces accept health cards as valid government issued ID

How low does it take to fill in an application?
The process of filling in your police clearance application takes approximately 10 minutes. The form can be completed when you visit one of our offices.
