Duties and Responsibilities

Due to the nature of this assignment, it is imperative that the Patrol Constable maintain a high standard of performance.  The Patrol Constable must present a professional image, including dress, deportment, and remain impartial, firm, but polite in all dealings with employees, client stakeholders and the visiting public. 

Duties include but are not limited to:   

Special Constables are Peace Officers of the Airport Patrol and are responsible for 

  • Conducting continuous mobile and foot patrols to cover Airside, Groundside and the ATB areas of the Aerodrome.  This includes enforcement of the Aeronautics Act and Transport Act on airport property.

  • explosive Detection service duties

  • Airside/Groundside traffic and parking enforcement duties

  • conducting security incident and accident investigations

  • completion of reports on all activities

  • emergency response duties

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The incumbent must possess the following skills, experiences and attributes:

  • Must be a former police/peace officer and be able to be appointed as a     

  • Special Constable by the Department of Justice.    

  • Successfully completed the Airport Qualification Course and completed all probation periods;

  • Professional and discreet;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Demonstrated customer services training and or experience

  • Demonstrated well developed interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task; and,

  • Flexible to personal style and ability to influence positively

  • Demonstrated competency with MS Office Suite products including Word, Excel and the Internet
