Duties and Responsibilities

Due to the nature of this assignment, it is imperative that the Shift 2 I/C maintain a high standard of performance.  The Shift 2 I/C must present a professional image, including dress, deportment, and remain impartial, firm, but polite in all dealings with employees, client stakeholders and the visiting public. 

This is a working supervisor position in the rank of Sergeant. This is a bargaining unit position. 

Duties include but are not limited to:   

  • Assumes Shift IC duties in absence of the incumbent
  • Supervising, providing direction and scheduling Shift members;
  • Coaching, motivating and disciplining, when necessary;
  • Completing timecard duties;
  • Maintaining applicable site logs and ensure Commissionaires complete same as well as required reports;
  • Maintaining and ensure compliance with post SWIs, SOPs, etc.;
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of communications;
  • Provide post relief;
  • Conducting investigations;
  • Resolve all complaints in a timely and satisfactory manner;
  • Keep Watch Commander and other stakeholders apprised of all events / incidents; and,
  • Other relevant security duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The incumbent must possess the following skills, experiences and attributes:

  • Must be a former police/peace officer and be able to be appointed as a     

  • Special Constable by the Department of Justice.

  • Previous supervisory experience.      

  • Successfully completed the Airport Qualification Course and completed all probation periods;

  • Professional and discreet;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Customer service focused;

  • Strong coaching and interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to multi-task; and,

  • Flexible to personal style and ability to influence positively.

  • Competency with MS Office Suite products.
