Duties and Responsibilities

The Military Police Dispatcher is responsible for the operational and administrative control of the MP Main Desk   As a member of CNS, and due to the nature of this assignment, it is imperative that the incumbent maintain a high standard of performance, professionalism, including dress and deportment, impartiality, discretion and customer focus.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Receiving the public, accepting packages, collecting violation payments, and manning the Main Desk telephone in emergency or routine situations;

  • Answering 911 calls according to established protocols, dispatching MP, collecting caller information and recording same within SAMPIS;

  • Access control to the MP Headquarters;

  • Operating SAMPIS system, CPIC terminal and JOIS system (when trained and accredited);

  • Conducting records checks with RCMP, CPIC, JOIS and SAMPIS as requested by MP (when trained on these systems and accredited);

  • Monitoring  threats and intrusion / fire / crash alarms and action the same;

  • Keeping the Shift Supervisor informed of all incidents reported to the Military Police, recording incidents, complaints, other duties performed by Shift personnel for the Shift Supervisor;

  • Administrative duties, including maintaining the MP registers, Shift Log,  duty lists, unit personnel lists, etc.;

  • Monitoring all radio transmissions and CCTV cameras and logging of all pertinent information in shift notes; and,

  • Any other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The incumbent must possess the following experience, skills and attributes:

  • Solid and demonstrated ability to multitask

  • Solid and demonstrated computer skills and aptitude

  • Demonstrated customer service focus

  • Strong and demonstrated oral and written communication and listening skills

  • Knowledge of micro-fiche, CF nominal rolls and NS license registrations would be an asset;

  • Demonstrated professionalism and discretion are required; and,

  • Demonstrated attention to detail.

  • Previous CF work experience.
